Nubian Museum

The Nubia Museum in Aswan in Egypt is a museum established by UNESCO in Egypt to display the relics of the ancient Nubian civilization, as well as information on the history of Nubia from prehistoric times to the present time, with a review of the most important Nubian customs and traditions, and the ancient Nubian language.

The museum was opened in 1997, after it was built by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) following a campaign it carried out between 1960 and 1980 to save Egyptian antiquities, in preparation for the construction of the Aswan High Dam.

The Nubia Museum in Aswan contains discoveries that were found during excavations and archaeological excavations carried out as part of the UNESCO international campaign to save the monuments of Nubia, which was threatened by the construction of the High Dam in 1960. In addition to displaying more than 3000 objects that were found during the excavation and drilling operations, The museum is a focal point for Nubian history and culture as its collections showcase the history of Nubia from prehistoric times to the present day.

The architectural style of the building and its elements are compatible with the environment of the surrounding area and its conditions, and the façade in its composition has a Nubian character, and the entrance has a shape that breaks the intensity of the length and reduces the strength of the light and its length. In addition to the large exhibition hall, the museum consists of all modern museum display facilities such as the entrance area and its attached services, a lecture hall, a modern library, a recording and documentation center, a space for holding temporary exhibitions, stores, a restoration laboratory, workshops and a photography studio. These places are equipped with modern ventilation and technical equipment. The necessary audio, optics, security and an integrated alarm system.
