Where he explored the Saqqara pyramid complex for the first time in 1821, when the German Consul General Heinrich von Mutoli “joined forces with the Italian engineer,” Gerolano Segato “, examined it, and discovered its entrance. Von Menotoli believed that it belonged to the mummy of Djoser. And it happened that “von Menotoli” obtained, under the authority of the German Kaiser and the approval of Muhammad Ali Pasha, the ruler of Egypt at that time, a permit to take those relics with another group of antiquities to Germany.
