Pyramid of Djoser

It is an archaeological landmark at Saqqara Cemetery northwest of the ancient city of Memphis in Egypt. Built during the 27th century BC for the burial of Pharaoh Djoser. Built for him by his minister Imhotep. The engineer and physician Amhotep was the principal architect of the vast funerary complex in the pyramid’s courtyard and the surrounding ceremonial structures.

The first Egyptian pyramid consisted of six mastabas built on top of each other, something that represents a tremendous development in the design of tombs in that era when one mastaba was only satisfied. The step pyramid of Djoser is 62 meters (203 feet) high, with a base of 109 m by 125 m (358 ft by 410 ft), and was covered in polished white limestone. The terraced pyramid is considered the first stone structure of its time, although the enclosures known as the Director’s Bridge appear to have preceded the construction of the pyramid.

The pyramid was affected by an earthquake in 1992 that affected the pyramid’s structure and led to the fall of parts of the funerary group and it was the oldest pyramid in history.

Djoser, since assuming the throne of Egypt, used the name Horus, “Nithri Khat,” meaning the holy body; The chief priest of Heliopolis deputized Amhotep for designing and constructing a large tomb for him. Among the titles of Amhotep was “Iri Bat,” meaning “member of the elites,” the chief priest, the head of the parables, and the director of construction works.

Where he explored the Saqqara pyramid complex for the first time in 1821, when the German Consul General Heinrich von Mutoli “joined forces with the Italian engineer,” Gerolano Segato “, examined it, and discovered its entrance. Von Menotoli believed that it belonged to the mummy of Djoser. And it happened that “von Menotoli” obtained, under the authority of the German Kaiser and the approval of Muhammad Ali Pasha, the ruler of Egypt at that time, a permit to take those relics with another group of antiquities to Germany. But the ship called Gottfried Ship sank Because of a severe hurricane near the port of Hamburg in Germany, and almost all of its effects were lost, and it became clear that what Von Menotoli found in the corridors of the step pyramid was nothing but another mummy placed in the cemetery later in the Old Testament.
